About the Journal

Indian Journal of Hygiene and Public Health is a publication of All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health, Kolkata. All India Institute of Hygiene & Public Health, established in 1932 as the first school of Public Health in South-East Asia region, has been a Pioneer Institute of its kind dedicated to teaching, training, and research in various disciplines of Public Health and allied sciences to ensure capacity building in the area of Public Health.Indian Journal of Hygiene and Public Health is published half-yearly in electronic format in June and December. The Journal publishes peer reviewed quality research in the form of original research articles, review articles, short papers and short notes. Research letters are also published in the corresponding section after peer review.


Criteria for consideration of papers - The papers should meet the following criteria � the material should be original, the methodology used should be standard and appropriate, results should be unambiguous supported with data/photographs, conclusions should be reasonable and based on the findings, the topic should be of public health interest and findings should have public health significance. Papers involving human and animals should be ethically cleared by the local ethical committees.�


Manuscript Preparation - Manuscript should be prepared in accordance with the Guidelines set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) as uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals. Abstract should be structured (of about 250 words) under the subheadings Background & objectives, Methods, Results, and Interpretation & Conclusions.


Scope of the Journal:

Indian Journal of Hygiene and Public Health publishes articles with special emphasis on original research findings that are relevant to public health .The journal considers publication of articles as original article, short communication, special article, review articles, case series report, CME article, Epidemic Investigations/ Outbreak news, IT applications in Public Health, Update on public health programmes, special events, view point and letter to editor. The journal publishes original research articles, focusing on family health care, epidemiology, biostatistics, public health administration, maternal and child health, occupational health, environmental sanitation, microbiology, public health nursing, health care delivery, national health problems, medical anthropology and social medicine, invited annotations and comments, invited papers on recent advances, clinical and epidemiological diagnosis and management; editorial correspondence and book reviews.
